Partners for Developmental Excellence
An Invitation to Join

The Annual Fund enables us to develop a comprehensive and direct response to address many critical needs and assist individuals towards greater self-reliance. A gift to the Annual Fund provides the resources to:

  • Increase access to early intervention services for children ages birth to three years old.
  • Increase access to community housing for adults with multiple developmental and medical disabilities.
  • Increase access to supportive services such as respite, family supports, and after-school programs.
  • Increase access to supported employment and career development services.

We urge you to consider making a financial contribution or a multi year commitment to the North Shore Arc. Your generosity will have a profound and lasting impact on the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Wayne

Wayne was diagnosed with progressive cerebral palsy and mild mental retardation as a tragic aftermath from surgery as a young boy. The cerebral palsy left Wayne with many challenges including limited use of only one hand, confinement to a wheelchair, and limited expressive abilities. Wayne came to the North Shore Arc in 1984 after years of living in a long – term care facility. He arrived at our Middleton House program and later moved to the Supported Transitional Living (STL) program in Beverly. Although STL was a tremendous step towards independence, Wayne dreamed of more. Eventually the North Shore Arc facilitated the purchase and modification of a condominium in Salem for Wayne. His new home not only gave Wayne the level of independence he sought for so many years, but also enabled him to become an active member in his community.
